Last 2D Class of the Year

Today was the last of my 2D animation classes for the semester. After I critiqued them I asked and I got some much needed feedback from my students about what to do better next time I teach "the Flash class." Thank you all. I plan to get more deeply into the ones verses twos thing on timing choices right up front next time. I'll make some quick how-to videos and certainly spend more time on the details of the tools demonstration right up front.

When it was all over and we were saying our so-longs for the season and year, one of my students also pointed out a few good websites and blogs to share. Here is one of those that is particularly Flash related; it is animator David Besiner's blog: http://davidbesnier.blogspot.com/
I have only given David's blog the cursory look-through at this point, but I hear he has some good Flash tutorials on his site and in this blog, like this one on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/73047035. Thank you to Ha for directing me to this animator's work.

Another student has asked repeatedly for me to post some of my work. You know, the on-paper kind. So, Vessy, I promise, during the break I will take the time to post some of this work too. I'll have to scan it in and put it into Flash, so I may do my first demo about converting pencil lines to vectors for importing on-paper 2D into Flash. (Actually, I may get to a different quickie lesson before this, since I already started it.) So, be on the lookout for those tips and tricks and quick-lessons and such starting in January. In the meantime Happy Holidays to all of you.

For My Flash 2D Students...and anyone else who wants to read it

And any other students of mine too. Starting in January I will post some flash info/tutorial/hits/tips advice, etc at least once per week so that you can get stronger with your Flash skills before you launch yourselves into the "real world" of our industry.

In the mean time, follow me here so that you are notified when things begin to happen and read this article:
